How to Paint Wood Crafts?

Hand painted wood-crafts are beautiful, fun to create, and make great gifts. In addition, hand painted crafts are also inexpensive to make. All necessary items can be purchased at most Hengxin Cover craft supply stores or ordered online. The best part about painting wood-crafts is that anyone can easily create wonderful wood-crafts by following a few basic steps.
How to Paint Wood Crafts
Prepare the wood for priming. If you are working with wood that has not already been sanded, you should sand it (by hand) before doing anything else. Use fine-grained sand paper to get the wood smooth so that the paint can be applied uniformly. Wipe the wood with a clean cloth to remove any remaining debris. If you want a rough-finish, you may skip this first step.
Apply primer to the wood, making sure to cover the entire surface, and allow the primer to dry. After the first coat is dry, add another coat of primer if necessary. Primers add extra protection to the wood and also allow paint to be applied more smoothly. Primers can be clear or colored. What kind of primer you should choose depends on what you are creating.
Paint the largest areas of the wood first (and all other areas that will be the same color) and allow paint to dry. If you are painting a wooden toy car, for instance, paint the body of the car first. After the paint has dried, you can determine if you’d like to apply another coat of paint. For small, indoor wood-crafts, one coat is usually sufficient.
Paint the smaller details using the smaller brushes and then set the painted wood in a safe area to allow paint to dry. If you are working with several colors in a small area, it is best to let a color dry before applying another color next to it.When the other painted area has been allowed to fully dry, it is easier to prevent time-consuming mistakes. If you accidentally get some paint (of another color) on the dry area, you can quickly dab the stray paint away with a dry cloth. If you are using a stencil for letters or designs, do these last after all other areas have fully dried.
Apply wood sealant (or varnish) and allow to dry. Sealants can be sprayed on or applied with a brush. Sealants protect paint from moisture and fading and come in glossy or matte finishes. If your finished piece will be exposed to sunlight, choose a UV resistant sealant.
Tips & Warnings
Choose good quality brushes that don’t shed bristles
Clean paint brushes soon after painting—don’t allow paint to dry on the brushes
Always allow paint brushes to dry with the bristles pointing straight
Sand wood in the direction of the wood grain or else you will not have a smooth finish
If your wood-craft has removable parts, paint these separately and attach later
Apply any primer or sealant in a well-ventilated area and away from flame
Avoid prolonged skin contact with primer or sealant

How to Make a Candy Wrapper Pouch?

Pouches made from candy wrappers are becoming increasingly popular due to their eco-friendly factors, as well as their creative, artistic look. Candy wrapper pouches require a lot of time, not only to make the pouch, but also to collect enough wrappers to start the project. However, the time and effort spent on making candy wrapper Dragon pouches will provide you an original, homemade pouch to hold coins, credit cards or business cards.
Making Candy Wrapper Pouches

  • Cut each candy wrapper so that it measures 2 inches by 4 ½ inches. You can use any size candy wrapper you'd like, however you will need more than 112 candy wrappers if you use a smaller size.
  • Fold the candy wrapper in half lengthwise, making a crease. Unfold the candy wrapper, and fold the bottom half upward until it reaches the center crease line, and then fold the top half down until the top edge hits the crease line. Next, fold the candy wrapper in half again lengthwise using the original crease, so that the top and bottom folds are facing together. Finally, fold the small strip in half widthwise.
  • Place one folded candy wrapper lengthwise on a flat surface so that the opening formed by the fold is facing upward, and the folded edge is balancing on the table. This should form a sideways "V," with the point of the "V" on the left, opening to the right. Hold another candy wrapper in an upside down "V" angle, with the open part of the fold facing to the left. Insert the ends of the upside down "V" into the slots of the candy wrapper on the table.
  • Squeeze the ends of the bottom candy wrapper together, pick it up, and turn it 90 degrees to the right. Insert the ends of another candy wrapper into slots of the open side of the second candy wrapper. You will now have a zigzag shape.
  • Continue the pattern, making a chain of 28 candy wrappers. Join the ends of the first and 28th wrapper to form a circle. Make four rows or circles of 28 candy wrappers.
  • Thread a needle with strong thread and tie a knot through the needle eye. Place the first 2 rows of candy wrappers together by fitting the outward pointing "V" into an inward pointing "V." Sew the wrappers together by working your way up and down each side of the "V." Tie a knot after each "V," then move onto the next one. Do this until all 4 rows are joined together.
  • Squeeze the bottom together and sew the bottom half of the rows together. This will be more difficult because the candy wrapper pouch will be tighter than it was during the other steps.
Tips & Warnings
  1. Add a zipper to the top of the candy wrapper pouch if you want something more secure. Use the same thread to sew each side.
  2. You can use a variety of other materials to make this purse. Experiment with magazine covers, potato chip bags, gum wrappers or plastic bottle wrappers.
  3. The candy wrapper purse may not be very durable. Depending on the type of material you use, exposure to water may cause the ink to run or the paper to tear.
  4. If using a material that was in direct contact with food, such as a potato chip bag, rinse it first to avoid problems with bugs or odor.

How to Remove Tea Stains From Mugs?

If you love tea you know how your favorite beverage can stain china, porcelain and even plastic
karsen mugs. The tannins in teas produce a brown dye that coats the interior of the tea cup, leaving brown rings or an overall brown stain. The stain does not affect the taste of subsequent cups of tea, but can look unappetizing. You can remove tea stains with a few household ingredients and enjoy your next cup of tea in a sparkling cup
  1. Make a paste of baking soda and water and rub onto the stained area. Allow to sit for a few hours. You can do this before you set out for work in the morning or leave the coated mug to sit overnight. In the morning, wet a soft cloth and scrub the dried paste lightly. The stain should be gone.
  2. Quarter a lemon and put one quarter into your stained mug. Add boiling water and allow this to sit for an hour or so. The acid in the lemon should bleach out the stain.
  3. Add 1 tsp. of oxygen bleach to your mug and fill the mug with boiling water. Allow to sit until the water cools. Wash and dry the mug.
  4. Fill the mug with water and add a denture tablet. These tablets contain cleaners designed to remove tough stains from porcelain dentures, so they are effective at doing the same for porcelain mugs. Allow the cleaner to sit until the tablet stops fizzing, then wash the mug in hot soapy water and rinse to remove all traces of the stain and the denture cleaner.
Tips & Warnings
Any cleaning solutions in a mug may be mistaken for a drink, so keep the soaking mug out of reach of children while the cleaner does its job.

  • Apply automotive vinyl finish to a clean, dry vinyl umbrella to keep soil and stains at bay.
  • Remove built-up grime by using a cleaner sold for the vinyl tops of cars.
  • Keep the umbrella closed during the rain, but try to open it immediately after becoming wet so that it can dry. Clear away any dirt or debris that may have gotten into the folds while it was closed.

How to Assemble Gift Boxes?

Assembling your own gift box can bring an ordinary store bought gift to life. Indeed, if beautifully made, a gift box can be almost as important as the gifts they contain. You can assemble your own Rainbow printing gift boxes using ready made templates downloaded from various craft websites. Assembling these types of boxes is usually simple if you follow careful instructions. You can finish off the festive look of your box by tying a colorful bow on it, and once you've finished you will have greatly enhanced the value of the gift you have given.
  • Draw or download a pattern for your box. You can download a good pattern for your box from the craft website Craft Stylish. For a really attractive box, be sure to download a pattern that has the box as well as a lid. A good pattern will ensure that the lid is slightly wider than the base.
  • Score the back of the template, along the lines of the pattern. Use the bone creaser to do this.
  • Fold and crease the box and the lid according to your score marks using the ruler to guide you. Fold the sides of the box upward and fold the corner pleats inward. This will leave you with four pairs of triangular sides. Glue them together.
  • Assemble the lid by folding all of the sides upward, all the flaps inward and then fold the tops of three of the sides down over the flaps, locking them in place.
  • Fold the fourth side inward. This final side will cover all of the pieces inside the lid and hold them in place.

How to Recharge an Electronic Cigarette?

Electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, are devices designed to replicate the look, feel and taste of ordinary cigarettes. However, instead of the combustion process used by normal cigarettes, these electronic cigarettes use an electronic atomizer in order to deliver the nicotine to the smoker. Since there is no need for combustion, Topgreen Health electronic cigarettes do not contain or use tobacco. Like many other electronic products, e-cigarettes use batteries that need to be recharged regularly.
  1. Remove the battery from your electronic cigarette atomizer by turning the battery counterclockwise. An electronic cigarette is typically made of three parts: an atomizer, an inhaler, and a battery. The inhaler is the brown part that you put into your mouth; the atomizer is the part that you insert into the inhaler; the battery, which is the part that includes the cigarette tip, is screwed into the atomizer. Put the atomizer and inhaler aside.
  2. Screw your battery into the battery charger.
  3. Plug the charger into a USB port or power outlet, depending on the type of charger. There are different types of electronic cigarette chargers. The most common ones are USB chargers, car chargers and regular power outlet chargers. If you are unsure about which type of charger you have, please refer to its documentation.
  4. Let the battery charge for several hours, or until the light on the battery turns green.
Tips & Warnings
Heavy smokers of electronic cigarettes might benefit from purchasing several batteries and keeping them charged at all times.

How to Repair A Leaking Shower Faucet?

Leaks in your Bathroom hose shower faucet not only wastes water, it also increases your water bill. Addressing the problem and repairing it as soon as possible is wise and earth-friendly. A leaking shower faucet is generally a sign that a part is worn out and needs to be replaced. The washers or seals are under pressure as water flows through them so it is normal that they typically wear out over time. With basic knowledge and tools, you can do the fixing yourself. Follow these steps:
  • Locate the water heater at your house then shut off the water valves.
  • Go back to the bathroom, turn on the shower faucet and drain the excess water out.
  • Depending on the type of shower faucet you have, you may work on one or two valves. In this example, I'm showing a two-valve shower faucet whose washers need to be replaced. Unscrew the screws that hold the handle/knob off the shower faucet and take them both off (hot and cold).
  • Once the handle or knob is off, take the water guard off.
  • Unscrew the nut that is holding the stem in its place.Unscrew the shower stem in a counterclockwise direction.
  • Replace the rubber washer on the shower stem located at the end that goes into the pipe.
  • Replace the packing washer found at the middle section of the shower stem.
  • Clean any debris from the pipe and put the parts together in reverse order. Recaulk around the faucet guard to protect your wall from damage.
Tips & Warnings
  1. It's best to replace all the gaskets and seals at one time
  2. If you are not very familiar with replacement parts for your shower faucet, go to a hardware store to ask for assistance in finding the parts you need.
  3. If you are not sure how to do the repair yourself, ask a professional to do the job.
  4. If you have a gas water heater, you may need to relight the water heater pilot. Also, avoid taking more than two hours in your repair to prevent the water heater tank from damage.

How to Keep Wigs From Slipping?

Whether you have a lot of hair, a little hair or no hair beneath a wig, it can be challenging to keep a wig from slipping while you are wearing it. A wig cap can help immeasurably to keep a Yunxiang lace wig in place and prevent it from shifting. Not only is a wig cap useful for securing a wig, but it also helps keep your wig clean because it serves as a barrier between your head and the wig.
Pin your hair up tightly against your head with bobbie pins if you have long hair. You may not need to clip shorter hair up with pins; however, any hair that you can secure against your head will make it easier to put your wig on.
Place the wig cap over your pinned hair. Stretch the wig cap over your head, either from the back to the front or from the front to the back. Placing a wig cap over your head is similar to placing a swim cap on your head--both caps are quite tight and you must stretch them over your head. Tuck any existing hair up under the wig cap after you stretch the wig cap over your head.
Insert bobbie pins through the wig cap and into your hair underneath, if applicable. If you do not have hair beneath the wig cap, skip this step.
Place the wig onto your head over the wig cap. Lift the hair of the wig up to show the underside of the wig and insert bobbie pins over the mesh under the wig to secure the wig to the wig cap. Insert bobbie pins at the front, side and back of the wig to hold the wig securely to the wig cap.

Tips & Warnings

If you have no hair beneath your wig, another option is to use double-sided wig tape. Place the wig tape directly onto your scalp and remove the cover from the tape to expose the second sticky side. You still may opt to use a wig cap, even when you do not have hair. If you use a wig cap, place the wig cap on your head and press it down firmly to secure it onto the tape. Place the wig over the wig cap and pin the wig to the wig cap using bobbie pins. If you opt not to use a wig cap, place the wig directly over the sticky wig tape and press the wig down to adhere it to the wig tape.

How to Build a Platform Bed Frame?

A platform bed is easy way to refurbish your bedroom, getting rid of the annoying squeaks that accompany metal spring beds and allowing you to achieve the perfect night's rest. Making your own platform bed is not only economical, but it allows you to add a personal touch such as a unique headboard, whether you want a modern look or use an antique door to add a vintage flair. Remember to consider the size of the Grandeur soft bed before buying and cutting your materials, since your comfort is your ultimate goal and the size of the frame also determines the size of other bedroom decor items such as area rugs.
Cut or have the lumber yard cut your lumber to the measurements below.
Twin size mattress--one 4x8 foot sheet of particle board cut to 40x76 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 28 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 62 1/2 inches, (2) 1x4s cut to 40 inches, and (2) 1x4s cut to 77 1/2 inches
Full size mattress--two sheets of particle board cut to 38x55 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 43 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 62 1/2 inches, (2) 1x4s cut to 55 inches, and (2) 1x4s cut to 77 1/2 inches
Queen size mattress--two sheets of particle board cut to 40 1/2 x 61 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 49 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 67 1/2 inches, (2) 1x4s cut to 61 inches, and (2) 1x4s cut to 82 1/2 inches
King size mattress--two sheets of particle board cut to 40 1/2 x 77 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 65 inches, (4) 1x12s cut to 67 1/2 inches, (2) 1x4s cut to 77 inches, and (2) 1x4s cut to 82 1/2 inches
If joining two pieces of particle board together for a full size or larger bed, attach them from the underside with straight metal straps. One half will form the top of the platform and one half the bottom portion. Sand any rough edges on your lumber before building the base frame.
Build the base frame for your platform bed. Build a rectangular box from four 1-by-12s, using wood screws and the illustration here as a guide. Sink the screws and cover the holes with wood filler. Attach the remaining long boards at 1/3 intervals inside the frame. Measure the distance between each section and cut the remaining short boards into six pieces to attach at staggered intervals as shown in the drawing. This creates a strong base that will not warp or twist.
Lay the particle board platform top-side down and center the base frame on the underside. Attach the base to the platform using the metal L-brackets, two on each side.
Flip the bed over and attach the 1-by-4s around the edge of the particle board platform with wood screws, leaving a one-inch lip above the particle board. You may want to use a measuring tape to mark the boards at the one-inch mark.
Stain or paint your platform bed frame as desired. If a natural wood finish is desired, simply place a coat of polyurethane over the entire structure.

How to Wash Dental Instruments?

All sunshine dental instruments must be cleaned, sterilized and properly stored in a designated area to eliminate the spread of bacteria or other contaminants. This includes any instruments that have been exposed outside of the designated sterile environment, whether used or unused. The Center for Disease Control classifies dental instruments in three categories: critical, semi-critical and non-critical. The critical and semi-critical tools that penetrate bone and tissue, or touch mucous membranes must be sterilized using heat. The non-critical tools that contact intact skin may be cleaned using a low-level or intermediate-level disinfectant.

Remove any excess debris from the instruments and dispose of it in a hazardous waste container. Soak the instruments in soap and water immediately after use. Because you may use a variety of instruments for one treatment, this serves as the precursor to the disinfecting and cleaning process.
Clean the instruments manually or with automated equipment. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend using an automated method, such as an ultrasonic cleaner, because these provide greater efficiency and safety. If you choose to manually clean the tools, use disinfectant or an enzymatic cleaner. Enzymatic cleaners are preferred as they remove blood and viral material. Wear eye protection and a face mask at all times to shield from splashing.
Dry and package any non-critical instruments that do not require further sterilization.
Sterilize the remaining semi-critical and critical instrumentation to remove any remaining germs, viruses or other contaminants. The American Dental Association recommends the use of autoclaving, dry heat or chemical vapor methods. Because each method varies in temperature and drying times, follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the sterilization equipment. Apply an anti-rust solution before sterilizing the instruments. This helps to reduce corrosion that can occur during sterilization, extending the life of your instruments.
Inspect the instruments after cleaning, noting any rust, damage or pitting. Instruments should be repaired or disposed of if flaws exist, because of the danger to the patient as well as to the dental office, according to the Infection Control Services Ltd..
Store cleaned and sterilized instruments in their designated containers.

How to Make an Embroidery Bullion Rose?

Embroidery is a needlework crafts or sewing project that travels well and does not require counting or concentration. There are several stitches that are not well known, but make beautiful needlework.
The bullion rose is a flower we made years ago, but it is not well known. You can learn to make this beautiful rose in one easy lesson.
Cut about a fourteen-inch length of embroidery thread, and separate the threads in twos.
Thread the sharp embroidery needle with the two strands of chenille embroidery thread in a color of your choice. This color will be the center.
Begin at a place in the fabric that you want the center of the rose. Make a stitch and bring the needle up to the top side.
Make two bullion stitches at the center, side by side
Twist the thread around the needle six times and push the point down in the fabric about 1/4 inch away from where it came up and close to the center.
Center of the bullion rose made
Make another stitch like this with six twists around the needle parallel to the first one.
Bring the needle up on the outside of the first bullion stitch about half way.
Practice embroidering bullion roses
Twist the thread around the needle eight times for each bullion stitch in this row. There should be three stitches in this row, five stitches in the next row and seven or eight stitches in the last row.
Practice making bullion roses that have six twists on the "far" side and eight twists on the "front" side. This makes them look like they are viewed from the side.
Make a rose bud with just the first two bullion stitches, and a green stem and sepals. With these basic instructions, you can make a cluster of roses.

How to Tie a Scarf?

A beautiful silk scarf can add glamor and chic sophistication to a simple shift dress, a classic crewneck sweater or your favorite blouse. A chunky wool or cashmere scarf can add a touch of warmth on a cold day and also dress up your look. Whichever pashmina fashion scarf you choose, remember that there are many ways to tie a scarf. Play around and find the look that best suits your style.
Fold a square scarf diagonally into a triangle. Then grasp the broad and middle point, folding repeatedly until the scarf forms a 2-inch band. Drape around your neck and tie a knot. Wear the knot in front to flatter an open-collar blouse, and to the side to add sass to a boatneck top.
Create the look of an ascot by spreading a square scarf upside down over a flat surface. Pull the fabric up from the center of the scarf, tie a small knot, then flip the ends so that the knot is underneath. Tie the opposite ends around the back of your neck, and let the scarf spill over from the base of your throat.
Make a shawl out of a very large square by first folding it into a triangle. Drape the scarf over one shoulder so that the point extends toward your elbow and the ends hang on either side of your torso. Tie the ends at the opposite hip, or belt the scarf at your waist.
Go for a quick and easy look. Turn a square scarf into a triangle, then wrap the scarf around the back of your neck so that the tip points down. Tie the ends into a knot and adjust to complement your neckline.
Tips & Warnings
  1. Decorate a solid scarf with a pin or brooch. Match any metals or gems to those on your jewelry or belt.
  2. Hand wash or dry-clean your scarves regularly depending on frequency of wear. The oils in your skin and other dirt can render vibrant colors flat and lifeless.
  3. Iron your scarf on a low setting when you notice that the ends are starting to curl.

How to Fit Soft Ballet Shoes?

Soft ballet shoes, more commonly known as slippers, are the soft Panlong Dance shoes you wear during practice and for floor work. These shoes keep your foot aligned for proper muscle control and for learning steps before putting on pointe shoes.

Choose a shoe 1 1/2 to 2 sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
Step into the shoes and point your toes or stand in first position. The shoes should feel a bit snug, but not tight.
Go down a size if the shoe has lots of excess in the toe or if your toes slide forward when you move.
Go up a size if the shoe feels uncomfortably tight or the back digs into your heel.
The shoe fits properly when you don't have to tighten the drawstring, your heel stays in place, the tips of your toes fit almost to the tip of the shoe, and you have room to wiggle your toes.
Tips & Warnings
  1. As a general rule, a wide foot requires a wide shoe.
  2. Split sole shoes fit the same as full-sole shoes.
  3. Soft shoes tend to feel stiff and move on their own when new. Soften with a bit of shoe oil to make them more comfortable.
  4. Use rosin on the entire sole of the shoe.

How to Cook With Condiments?

While most adults outgrow the need to dose anything and everything with ketchup, the Hot Pot condiment does still have its place in cooking. Ketchup began as a pickled-fish condiment in 17th century China and evolved into the modern product in the 1700s, when New Englanders added tomatoes to the mixture. Many other popular condiments add a depth of flavor or a touch of tang to your cooking. Experiment with amounts from 1 tbsp. to 2 cups of your favorite condiment in sauces, stews and salads.
Add ketchup to sloppy joes. For 1 lb. of hamburger, add 1 cup of ketchup, along with two to three shakes of Worcestershire and Tabasco sauce. Add enough water as well to make your sauce the consistency you like.
Make barbecue sauce. Mark Bittman, author of "How to Cook Everything Vegetarian," uses 2 cups of ketchup along with red wine, wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, minced onion and minced garlic.
Stir in ketchup to meatloaf or meatball mixtures. Food Network chef, Giada De Laurentiis adds 2 tbsp. of ketchup to her beef and veal meatballs along with parsley, Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, garlic and red pepper flakes.
Experiment with whole grain mustard rubbed on steaks and chops.
Add 1 to 2 tbsp. of mustard to cream sauces. The tanginess of the mustard adds acidity to the cream sauce, giving it another dimension of flavor. Use cream sauces with mustard for lamb, pork or ham.
Toss lettuce with a dressing made with mustard, olive oil, vinegar and finely chopped shallots. Add a bit of honey if you like your salad dressings on the sweet side.
Moisten tuna or salmon sandwich spreads with equal amounts of mustard and mayonnaise. You'll reduce the calories in the sandwiches and add an extra tang as well.
Salsa adds color as well as flavor to quick breads.
Add 1/2 cup of salsa to your favorite corn bread or corn muffins. Mix the salsa with the wet ingredients before adding them to the dry ingredients.
Stir 1/2 cup of salsa into beans or rice to give these side dishes Southwest flavor. Use either hot or mild salsa, depending on your preference.
Spread a thick layer of salsa in your frying pan and clear a few spaces to fry eggs for huevos rancheros. Serve with warm tortillas on the side.
Stir a few tablespoons of salsa into your favorite guacamole recipe. makes guacamole with fresh lime juice, salt, red pepper sauce and clove of garlic chopped fine and then tops the mixture with a layer of salsa.

How to Darn a Sock?

You can use the darning technique to repair small holes in Cotton Baby socks and other clothing. With a darning needle and yarn, you'll form a network of stitches across the gap.
  1. Find thread or yarn that matches the sock in color and texture; you can use embroidery floss (a type of thread) to repair a crew sock, while wool yarn is appropriate for a wool sock. Choose a darning needle as well.
  2. Place a lightbulb in the sock and position the hole over the lightbulb. Your needle will glide smoothly over the bulb's surface, making your stitching go faster.
  3. Thread the darning needle with the yarn or thread and leave the end unknotted. The darning process should create a tight weave that makes knots unnecessary.
  4. Start your work on either side of the hole. Take several small vertical running stitches in the intact fabric of the sock, about 1/2 inch to the left or right of the hole. Turn the sock upside down and make another row of stitches next to the first.Increase the number of running stitches you make as you come closer to the hole. When you reach the point at which the hole begins, your stitching line should extend from 1/2 inch above the hole to 1/2 inch below it.
  5. Continue making vertical running stitches. When your stitching reaches the hole, take your thread or yarn over the hole and into the fabric on the other side, forming what resembles a vertical bridge over the hole. Stitching should extend 1/2 inch beyond the hole at both the top and bottom edges.
  6. Cut the thread end once you have covered the hole with vertical threads and extended the stitching 1/2 inch past it so that both sides of the hole look identical.
  7. Thread your darning needle and begin your work 1/2 inch from either side of the hole at either the top or bottom. Take the threaded needle and weave it under and over the vertical threads that cover the hole (as well as the vertical threads that lie within 1/2 inch of the hole).
  8. Turn the sock upside down once you reach the opposite end of the hole, and weave another yarn strand next to the first. Continue stitching back and forth until you've completely filled the hole. Trim excess thread.
Tips & Warnings
Use a darning needle for your repairs. The eye of this needle is large enough to accommodate a thicker yarn.
Sew a running stitch by bringing the needle up through the fabric, then down again, then up again.
Space stitches evenly. Lay both your running-stitch lines and crosswise threads as close together as possible to create a tight weave.
You can replace the lightbulb with another round, smooth object of similar dimensions, such as a hard plastic ball.

Rest the guitar on your right leg. If you are left-handed, rest it on your left leg.
You may wish to cross your legs. This will elevate the position of your instrument.
Be careful not to let the neck of the guitar point downward.
Try not to lean over your guitar.
Getting Down
Flex your fingers to loosen your joints.
Check the tuning of your guitar and re-tune it if necessary.
Practice your left hand first, fingering chords and melodic lines.
Warm up by playing tunes that you are already familiar with.
Next, practice new material separately and stick with it for a while. Don't return to your old, familiar songs just because you are getting frustrated and impatient with the new ones.
Finish your practice session by playing music you already know, and polish your skills on it.

How to Restore Fashion Jewelry?

Exposure to air, makeup and heat may darken and dull Towin hair accessories jewelry. While restoring your fashion jewelry may be as simple as using as applying a polishing cloth to add shine, you can use simple household products for more complicated jewelry cleaning problems.

Get the kinks out. Sprinkle knotted and tangled chains with cornstarch or talcum powder to untangle. If the knot is particularly tight, push a straight pin through the center of the tangle. Twist and turn gently to release the snarled chain.
Restore the shine of your pearls. Mix 1 tsp. of Woolite or mild liquid soap in a cup of water. Submerge your jewelry in the water for 10 to 20 seconds. Dab the pieces with a clean, white cloth. Lay flat to dry. Store pearls in a cotton bag away from other jewelry.
Wash gold jewelry in an ammonia solution. Mix 1 cup of warm water, 2 tsps. of mild liquid detergent and 1 drop of ammonia in a small bowl. Soak the gold for a maximum of 5 minutes. Brush the jewelry lightly with an old toothbrush. Rinse in lukewarm water to remove any ammonia residue. Add shine with rubbing alcohol.
Clean silver with 2 to 3 drops of liquid detergent and 1 cup of warm water. Wipe with a cloth to clean. Rinse in cold water and blot with a towel to dry. For stubborn tarnish stains, "Good Housekeeping" recommends a paste of one part water with 3 parts of baking soda. Wet the silver with a few drops of water first. Apply the baking soda mixture with a soft cloth. Rinse the silver completely and dry flat on a clean towel.
Use clear super glue to secure loose stones. Apply 1 to 3 small drops of glue to the base of the stone. Do not allow the glue to overflow or harden on top of the stone. If you do not have a steady hand, use a toothpick to add the glue to the piece of jewelry.

How to Choose a Good Pillow?

Waking up with an aching neck and stiff muscles is never a pleasant experience. Choosing a good Buddy neck pillow can help you achieve a quality night of comfortable slumber. With so many pillow types and choices on the market, it may seem like an overwhelming task to find the one that works for you. By following a few tips, you can find a proper pillow for your sleeping style.

Evaluate your sleeping position. This should be the prime factor in choosing a good pillow for you. Take note of whether you usually sleep on your side, stomach or back. Back sleepers should opt for thin pillows that cradle the neck, providing support. Side sleepers should choose firm pillows that give support for the area between the ear and shoulder. Stomach sleepers should opt for flat pillows, so your neck isn't turned at an uncomfortable angle.
Select your preferred filler material.Foam pillows come in different densities, from firm to soft. Memory foam molds to your body, reducing pressure points. Latex provides an option for those who want a mold- and mite-resistant material. Down pillows allow you to move the stuffing to provide support as needed.
Prepare to spend more money. Choosing the cheapest pillow on the market usually means lower quality and inferior filling, which may break apart quickly in comparison to one of higher quality.
Read user reviews of the specific pillow type you're considering on unbiased consumer websites. If the pillow has consistently high reviews, chances are it's a good product.
Visit stores that sell pillows and test them. By doing this, you'll have access to a range of pillow options. Spend time lying on an in-store bed in your preferred sleep position with the pillow. Test at least three or four different pillows and base your selection on personal comfort level.

How to Make Fabric Flower Headbands?

Headbands come in a variety of colors, materials and fabrics, and they aren't only for grownups. One of the most adorable uses of headbands is for baby girls. Because many infants don't have much hair, and girls sometimes look like boys at that age, a headband with a Shineder lace fabric flower is a good accessory for showing people that your baby is a girl.

Measure the baby's head by wrapping it with a piece of narrow elastic where the headband would sit. Cut the elastic that length. The slight stretch the elastic makes holds the band in place.
Cut two pieces of grosgrain ribbon 3 inches longer than the elastic. Place the wrong edges of the ribbon together. Sew the edges of the ribbon together making a tunnel for the elastic to go through. Use a sewing machine or sew tiny stitches by hand.
Hook a safety pin to one end of one of the ribbons and pull it through the tunnel to the other side of the ribbon. Use your fingers to push the safety pin through. In effect, what you're doing is turning the ribbon right side out. Hook the safety pin to one end of the elastic.
Thread the elastic through the ribbon tunnel. Hold the end of the elastic without the safety pin in one hand. Push the elastic through the tunnel by using the safety pin as a guide and pushing the fabric against and down the pin until you've worked the pin and the elastic all the way through.
Sew the two edges of the elastic together to form a circle of ribbon with the elastic inside. Sew the ribbon ends to each other. Don't worry about the raw edges, because the fabric flower will cover it. The ribbon will be slightly rippled because it's longer than the elastic.
Attach silk ribbon roses to the headband at the juncture of the ribbons with a few stitches. You could also use fabric glue for an adult headband. A baby's head is more sensitive, because there's no hair to cushion the scalp. The glue may irritate the scalp. Choose roses bigger than the width of the ribbon or use more than one rose.

How to Clean a Stainless Steel Water Bottle?

Stainless steel water bottles are becoming more common. These bottles are more durable than plastic water bottles and they are easier to keep clean. Plastic bottles sometimes impart an unpleasant scent and flavor to liquids. While this flavor and scent can also occur in improperly cleaned stainless steel bottles, it is easier to remove. If you use a few common household products after each use, you can keep your stainless steel water bottle clean, fresh and odor free.

Remove the bottle's cap and set it aside. Pour 2 tbsp. white vinegar into the bottle. Replace the cap and shake the Glassart Brandy bottle. This spreads the vinegar over the interior surface.
Take the cap off again and, leaving the vinegar inside, add warm water until the bottle is 1/2 full. Push a bottle brush through the mouth of the bottle. Gentle scrub the interior surfaces with the brush. Next, take the brush out and replace the cap. Shake the bottle again vigorously, and then pour the contents out.
Rinse the inside of the bottle, and then place a small amount (1 tsp. or less) of vinegar on a soft cloth. Wipe down the outside of the bottle with vinegar; then, rinse under water.
Wash the cap with a clean, vinegar-soaked cloth. If the cap smelled musty before you began cleaning, let the vinegar remain on the cap for up to 15 minutes; otherwise, rinse it off after 1 to 2 minutes.

How to Brake Properly on a Motorcycle?

Motorcycles have two brakes - the front operated by the right hand, the rear operated by the right foot - and both are needed to stop effectively. Below are some important guidelines for braking safely on a HongFa motor.

Use both brakes each time you slow down or stop. If you use only the rear brake, you may never learn how to use the front brake properly when you need it.
Squeeze the front brake and press down the rear brake smoothly, gradually increasing pressure as needed. Jerking the front brake or hitting the rear brake hard can cause the brakes to lock up, resulting in skids and control problems.
Apply both brakes simultaneously. Many riders believe the rear brake should be applied first. On the contrary, the sooner you apply the front brake, the sooner you slow down.
Complete your braking before entering a turn, when possible. If you need to brake when turning, you can use the front, as well as the rear, brake, as long as the road isn't very slippery and you apply the brakes gently - you've less traction available for braking when you're leaning the bike.

How to Gain Passive Solar Heat in a Home?

While the cost of oil or gas to heat our homes may be going down this year, we all expect that in the long run it's probably going back up. So, anything that can help us reduce the cost of heating our homes is worthwhile. Passive Qiruite solar heating (taking advantage of the heat provided by the sun) is a relatively inexpensive, but effective way to help minimize the direct cost of heating our homes, both now and in the future. Here are some ideas on how passive solar heating can help you in your home. Does this Spark an idea?

Ensure that your insulation is up to code (or even above code). If you live in the northern part of the United States, you should have at least R-40 in your attic or roof to help keep your home warm in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Allow the sun to shine in during the day, but close your blinds or curtains at night. In the United States it's particularly important to have south-facing windows uncovered during the day so all the sun's rays can enter and provide heat to your home. When the sun goes down, close the blinds or curtains and trap the heat inside.
Use solid blinds and lined curtains to help hold the heat in.
Paint your walls dark colors in rooms where the sun is shining in during the day. The dark colors will help to hold the heat and slowly give it up during the night. Dark-colored furniture will also help capture heat.
Install darker colored tiles or floor coverings in rooms open to the sun to also absorb warmth.
Be sure the caulking around your doors and the weather stripping around your outside doors are in good shape and preventing drafts. This will help keep the cold air out and the warm air inside.
Consider upgrading your existing windows to double or even triple-glazed windows with Low E argon in between the panes of glass. Double or triple glazing will help minimize heat loss through the glass itself, while the gas between the panes increases the R-value of the window itself. If you can afford it, increasing the size of the south-facing windows will also allow more heat in.
Plant only deciduous trees on the south side of your home. Evergreen trees don't lose their leaves in winter and can end up blocking the sun from getting into your home through your uncovered windows.

Information About Solar Energy

The sun is approximately 93 million miles away from the planet Earth, yet it is still possible for the sun's rays to provide energy to heat our homes and produce electricity to power our appliances.
Light As Energy
Light is a complex component of our natural world that can be regarded as either a particle or wave. The dual nature of light does not affect the ability of this form of energy to be harnessed as a practical source of energy.
Cells made primarily from silicon are now used to convert the energy from sunlight directly into electricity. This process is made possible because silicon produces an electric charge when exposed to sunlight.
Direct Current
Photovoltaic cells produce a direct current, which is usually modified to alternating current by a small transformer.
Passive Solar Energy
Passive solar energy is created when the sun's rays fall upon a dense, reflective surface. Heat then radiates from the passive collector or reflective surface to warm the enclosed space.
Solar Heated Water
Water can be heated directly or indirectly by the sun to raise the temperature of the water. The heated liquid is then pumped through the water heater as either heat or just plain hot water.

How to Build a LEGO Road Roller

Typical Lego sets provide a free-wheeling, imagination-run-wild construction experience. But, Lego construction sets, such as the Lego Road Roller set 30003, direct users to build specific and customizable replicas of heavy equipment and their operators. As with other Lego construction toys, the simplicity of its parts makes the assembly process a basic yet educational experience for young children.
1.Assemble your construction worker. Snap the blue torso section into the blue leg piece and then attach the yellow head and red hat.
2.Assemble the side pieces. To each long, thin, 1-by-8 yellow piece, attach a black "plus" cylinder at each end. Over each cylinder, attach a gray nut. Then, place a large gray roller wheel on each cylinder, followed by a second nut.
3.Connect the two side pieces. With the wheel sides facing inward, attach the center circle of each side piece's yellow base to the gray 2-by-4 piece. The wheels from the two side pieces should now be flush against one another.
4.Attach the flat, black 2-by-6 piece between the two sets of wheels. Centered and on top of this piece, place the yellow brick that has the lowered 2-by-2 center section. Its upward extensions should be over each set of roller wheels. This creates the seating base.
5.Attach the safety light. Snap the gray pole onto one side of the roller's back end. On top of the pole, attach the orange lamp piece.
6.Attach the seating and controls. On the rear extension of the yellow seating base, attach the yellow seat-back. To the front extension, attach the steering wheel. At the back of the center depression, attach the flat, gray 1-by-2 piece. On the front of the center depression, place the 1-by-2 black grill piece.

How to Drive a Bulldozer

A bulldozer is a specialized tractor that is used to level ground. It has two main parts---the tractor itself and the blade. The blade is the flat, metal plate on the front of the tractor that levels the ground. You can rent a bulldozer in many states if you have a driver's license, but it is preferable watch a professional before driving it yourself.
1.Turn the key in the ignition to start the bulldozer.
2.Hold your foot over the brake. Be ready to brake at any time.
3.Grasp the joystick at your left. Slowly push it in the direction you would like to go.
4.To decelerate, press the deceleration pedal. It is located next to the brake.
5.To control the blade, use the joystick to your right.
6.To level the ground, slowly lower the blade until it is flush with the ground's surface. Then move the bulldozer forward slowly. The blade should shave the uneven ground as it moves.

How to Use LED Strip Lights

LED light strips are made for a variety of uses. Interior and exterior strips allow custom colored lighting to windows, doors, cars, trucks or walls. Depending on your LED strips, power comes from 9-volt batteries or internal batteries much like those found in modern digital watches. Most LED strips allow you to cut custom lengths and sizes. Some LED strips have adhesive backs allowing you to place them onto clean surfaces.
1.Wash the surface onto which you want to place the LED strips. If attaching them to a car running board or bumper, use soapy water and sponges to clean the surface of grime and grit. Dry the surface using rags or paper towels. Clean any glass surfaces prior to adding the LED strips.
2.Measure out the distance you want LED strip light added. Cut down the LED light strip using scissors or a knife. Measure twice, cut once. If your LED strips (and most have this) uses adhesive backing, peel off the tape from the back.
3.Place the LED light strip onto the surface, sticky side down. Use your fingers to push out any air-bubbles under the strip as you place it onto the surface.
4.Plug the red and black wires into the 12-volt battery tab, typically included with the LED strips and plug the tab onto the top of the battery to turn on the led spotlight.

How to Remove the Ballast for LED Tube Lights

LED lights are becoming more popular for home use with the rise in concern for energy efficiency. LED bulbs are capable of providing light longer than and at a fraction of the cost of regular incandescent bulbs. Replacing or rewiring an LED tube light can sometimes require removal of the ballast that holds the cabling for the light. Removal is fairly simple and requires only a few short steps.
1.Unhook the power running into the light fixture before attempting to remove the ballast or any other part of the fixture.
2.Put on a pair of insulated gloves and remove the covering from the light fixture.
3.Unscrew any existing bulb or led tube light and place it gently aside in a safe place.
4.Locate the ballast on the fixture. The ballast in a led spotlight is often located on the far end, near where the wiring enters, but is sometimes more centrally located.
5.Carefully clip the wires that are attached to the ballast, leaving a good amount of excess if you ever plan to rewire it, and then look for the fastening screws that hold the ballast in place.
6.Unscrew any fasteners that are holding the ballast in place to finish the removal process. Some ballasts may be clipped into place, requiring no tools to remove. If this is the case for your ballast, simply slide it in the opposite direction of the clips to remove it.

How to Select Sanitary Napkins

Women have two primary options for personal protection during a menstrual cycle, sanitary napkins and tampons. Follow these steps to make the appropriate choice.
1.Decide whether to use a sanitary panty liner alone or with a tampon. Some women use sanitary napkins or pads as a backup for tampons or others use pads as the sole form of protection.
2.Consider different brands, sizes, styles and thicknesses. The napkin needs to cover the vulva, external female genital area, entirely to prevent leakage. Most pad designs accommodate a size 6 panty size. Consider a plus size, extra long or overnight protection for full coverage of larger panty sizes.
3.Select a style or shape based on your lifestyle. Sanitary napkins come with or without wings and are curved or contoured to prevent leakage on the sides.
4.Think about absorbency and select a pad that is very absorbent and keeps you dry and comfortable. If your pad embarrasses you by leaking then try a higher level of absorbency or a new brand.
5.Find the proper thickness depending on your level of physical activity. Some prefer thick protection while others use thin pads to serve their needs without the bulkiness.
6.Discover the best support system for preventing pad slippage. Adhesive strips on the bottom of the pad and wrap-around wings keep the napkin in place inside the panty. Notice how well a napkin's support lasts after exercise or exposing it to other consistent movement or moisture like sweat.

Important Factors About Industrial Lighting

Adequate lighting is an important element in creating a productive work environment. Whether you work in an office, on an assembly line or another industrial setting, the right led industrial light is more than just being able to see well.
Light affects productivity because it affects your emotions and attitude. Dim lighting, as on a cloudy day outdoors, can make people feel more depressed and have less energy. Poor lighting increases employee absences, due to illness and decreases worker output.
Natural Lighting
Natural light is good for humans. Natural light is good for humans.
Natural sunlight from skylights and windows is beneficial in industrial settings. Natural light creates positive effects on human health. Natural daylight includes UVB rays, which cause Vvitamin D to form in the skin. Without adequate Vitamin D, the body can develop bone deficiencies.
Another benefit to including natural daylight in industrial settings is improved employee morale. Natural light makes people feel more energetic and less stressed.
Bad Light
If a worker can't see, then he can't work. If a worker can't see, then he can't work.
Bad lighting causes increased eye strain, headaches and increases the chance of accidents in the workplace. Bad lighting is not just dim lighting. Bad lighting can be caused by using incorrect fixtures.
Sometimes, drop lights or hanging lights are used, which focuses the led spot light in a general area and leaves the rest of the areas dim. These lights tend to cause heavy shadows and excess glare on computer screens. This can lead to lost productivity due to eye strain.

How to Measure Hex Bolts

Hex bolts are the most commonly used bolt type. The hex-shaped head of these bolts is seen in all types of mechanical assemblies, and yet some confusion remains as to the proper way to measure a bolt. The five factors that must be known to determine the proper replacement for a heave hex bolt are length, shank length, diameter, threads per inch and grade.
1.Place the zero end of the measuring scale against the bottom of the hex head, and read the scale to determine the total length of the bolt. Bolt length increases in 1/4-inch increments. Remember to use a metric scale when measuring metric hex nut.
2.Measure the unthreaded portion of the bolt. This is the shank length and must be the same on the replacement bolt to insure the proper tensile rating is maintained.
3.Measure across the threaded end of the bolt to determine bolt diameter. The smallest bolt is 1/4 inch in diameter. Hex bolts diameters increase in 1/16 inch increments.
4.Using a thread gauge, determine the threads per inch. If a thread gauge is not available, count the threads in the first inch of the hex bolt. You must use a thread gauge when measuring metric bolts.
5.Note any markings on the bolt head. These are the symbols denoting the hardness grade of the bolt. Replace the bolt with one that has the same markings.

How to Paint a Display Stand

Display stand is  designed to meet almost every need and function. You can find display stands showcasing posters, signs, newspapers, artwork, books and more, whether used commercially or in the privacy of your home. You don't have to keep a display stand looking as if it is still in its original condition. Painting, though, will keep stands looking good while creating colorful focal points. Personalizing your own display stand can even become an artistic endeavor.
1.Envision first how you want to paint your display rack. Think about its placement, whether in your home or office. Picture the designs. Consider what colors will look best. Figure out what colors will complement the display and what kind of paint and brushes you will need.
2.Use oil paint, if possible, because it is easy to prepare and use. However, your ideas for painting will take precedence in your choice of paint. Collect as many different colors of paint for versatility. White and black paint are necessary to lighten or darken your painting. Make sure to have enough for at least two coats.
3.Buy paintbrushes and trays at a craft store or online. Some people use paint rollers they dip in rectangular paint trays to reach large areas of a display stand. Get brushes of different sizes so you can paint many different kinds of details. Finding an easel will help with painting details of different sizes and colors.
4.Set up your painting area with your paints, newspaper, brushes and water containers. Start painting the first coat of your display stand. You can choose a solid color or speckle it with different colors. Use water to wash the brush so no paints mix unintentionally.
5.Allow 24 hours for the paint to dry. Paint your second coat once you are sure the paint is thoroughly dry. This is the time to make one color more solid or to add extra detail. Wait another 24 hours to let it dry, being careful not to set any items on the stand if it is still wet.

How to Change LED Light Bulbs

LED bulbs have many advantages over other types of bulbs, with one of the biggest being that they have a much longer life span than any other type of light bulb. However, LED tube, like every other bulb, will eventually burn out. When this happens, the process of changing the bulb is relatively simple to do.
1.Turn off the light fixture. For added safety, unplug the lamp as well.
2.Slowly remove the burnt out bulb. You can usually do this by turning the bulb counterclockwise.
3.Replace the LED light bulbs with a new bulb. Install the bulb by turning it in the direction opposite what you did to loosen the old bulb (Typically the direction is clockwise.)
4.Plug the lamp in, and turn on the light fixture. If the bulb does not turn on, turn the light off and try tightening the bulb further.
5.Discard the old light bulb in an environmentally safe way (see Tips section).

The Disadvantages of Rubber Speed Bumps

Speed bumps are designed to control traffic and reduce dangerous situations. Speed bumps are commonly made from asphalt, but rubber speed bump made from recycled materials offers a more environmentally friendly alternative. Rubber speeds bumps are easier to install than their counterparts and are portable, unlike asphalt speed bumps. Despite their benefits, rubber speed bumps do have a number of disadvantages.
Additional Maintenance
Asphalt and concrete speeds bumps are installed on a permanent basis and require only minimal maintenance. Rubber speeds bumps, however, are not nearly as secure and require additional repairs. The installation components of rubber speed bumps can loosen from the vibration of heavy traffic, causing the speed bump to separate. In addition, markings on rubber speed bumps also require more frequent maintenance than asphalt speed bumps. Paint and traffic marking strips do not adhere as well to road marking machine as other surfaces.
The installation of speed bumps can trigger a negative response from drivers. Rubber speed bumps are designed to be portable, so installing a rubber speed bump is a much easier task. While simple installation can be an advantage, it also means removing the speed bumps is a relatively easy process. As a result, residents or drivers against the speed bump installation can remove it using basic tool.
Unlike asphalt speed bumps which can remain in upstanding condition for years, rubber speed bumps can deteriorate quickly and even need replacement after a matter of months. Extreme heat and cold can greatly reduce the lifespan of rubber speed bumps. With wear, the joints begin to separate, creating potentially unsafe gaps. Edges deteriorate and begin to break away from the main structure. Heavy traffic also begins to break down rubber speed bumps with traffic grooves beginning to form. Deteriorating rubber speed bumps are a hazard to drivers and can cause significant damage to the roadway.

Cone Crusher Specs

Cone crushers are one of the workhorses of the mining and aggregate industries. They are used as secondary crushers to reduce large rocks and ore of medium hardness into smaller more easily managed pieces. Cone crushers work by funneling large rocks from the top of the crusher onto a round cone. This cone is ground against an inverted bowl, similar to a mortar and pestle, such that large pieces of ore are crushed and allowed to fall into smaller and tighter levels of the cone until the smallest pieces eventually fall free.
900 Millimeter Cone Crusher
The 900 series cone crusher is available in three different models: coarse, medium and fine. The coarse model can process up to 269 tons of material per hour, breaking each piece from an initial size of 150 millimeters down to approximately 38 millimeters. The mid-range "medium" model is suitable for crushing 69 to 144 tons of material per hour down to a resultant size of 19 to 30 millimeters in diameter. The fine media crusher is usually a "short head" model used for crushing materials to less than 18 millimeters. It is capable of handling 61 to 95 tons of material per hour.
All three models are powered by electric motors generating 75 to 100 horsepower at a maximum speed of 630 revolutions per minute. Though these models are some of the smallest available, they aren't lightweight. Each one tips the scales at a massive 10,500 kilograms and stand approximately 2.7 meters high.
1200 Millimeter Cone Crusher
Like the 900 series, the mid-sized 1200 series of jaw crusher is divided into three models: coarse, medium and fine. The coarse model is capable of handling more than 460 tons of material per hour. When used for a medium grind, a 1200 millimeter diameter cone crusher is able to process between 102 and 216 tons of material per hour, depending on how large or small the resulting particles need to be. For the most finely ground materials, the short head model can handle 92 to 146 tons of ore per hour and discharge material measuring 9 to 30 millimeters in diameter.
Cone crushers in the 1200 size range are powered by motors that generate 125 to 150 horsepower and spin the main drive axle at 560 revolutions per minute. Though they are not the largest crushers, the 1200 series of crushers each weigh in around 19,940 kilograms and stand 3.2 meters tall.

How to Use a Key Cutting Machine

At one time, making duplicate keys required hand grinding or filing a key blank. The method was difficult to master, and only a locksmith could do the job accurately. Today's technology makes creating a duplicate key quick and cost-effective. Hardware stores are now equipped with automatic or semiautomatic key cutting machine, which is able to follow the shape of the teeth along the key while grinding the blanks into precise copies.
1.Insert the original key in the vice with the teeth facing upward.
2.Insert the blank key into the second vice, where the cutting blade is located.
3.Close the protective cover and activate the machine. The micrometer will trace the original key. It automatically controls the angles and depth of the high-speed cobalt blade.
4.Once the duplication is complete, turn off the machine and remove both keys. Use the high-speed wire brush to polish off any rough edges or spurs.
5.Place the new key and the original against each other and compare. They should be an identical match. If not, another key may need to be cut.

How to Paint Rubber Balls

You can paint a rubber ball to change its color and leave it with a shiny new exterior. Rubber balls are available in a wide variety of sizes to accommodate all kinds of active play. It may be difficult to find a ball in both the size and color scheme you are looking for. A few layers of paint and a little patience takes the rubber sphere from just another bouncing ball to a personalized toy craft.
1.Soak the corner of a cloth in isotropy alcohol and thoroughly wipe down the surface of the rubber ball.
2.Position a pedestal in the center of your painting area (don't forget to cover the floor with some newspaper). The pedestal can be a toilet paper tube for larger balls and an empty pen tube for smaller rubber balls. Place the ball on the pedestal.
3.Apply rubber primer to the topside of the ball. Allow the primer to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions before turning the ball upside down and covering the other side with primer. Let it dry.
4.Apply a thin coat of the latex paint by holding the can at least 8 inches from the surface of the bounce ball at all times. Turn the ball over on the pedestal and paint the other side once the first half has dried completely. Continue spinning the ball around in the pedestal and adding thin layers of paint until you are satisfied with the color.

Can You Paint Waterproof Wall Panels?

Waterproof panels are made from plastic or vinyl and are used to protect areas that commonly get wet such as bathrooms and exterior walls. In most cases it is possible to paint this plastic using a strict application method. However, all paints should be checked on a small area of panel before painting an entire wall.
PVC Panel
PVC is a common form of plastic used to make waterproof panels. The PVC is melted and formed to look like real wood. Usually the company that manufacturers the panels will offer several different finishes and colors. However, if you live in a house that already has PVC wall panels and you do not like the color, then it becomes necessary to paint the panels. PVC plastic can be painted, but there are a few tricks to it.
HDPE Panel
HDPE is another type of plastic that is commonly used to make wall panels. The panels are made in the same way as PVC panels with melting, molding and shaping. HDPE is also sold in a variety of colors and finishes, although not quite as many as PVC because it is a newer product. HDPE is used more often in industrial and commercial settings. If waterproof panels are located in your home it is likely that they are PVC plastic rather than HDPE. However, the painting procedure for both plastics is the same.
Preparation is essential for a proper painting bond for any plastic and waterproof panels. The panels should be thoroughly cleaned with grease-fighting soap and sanded with a high-grit sand paper. The panels should then be wiped down with an acetone solution to get rid of any dust and grease. Immediately wipe the surface down with a clean, damp cloth to remove the acetone. Any acetone still on the plastic will cause adhesion problems. If this step is ignored the paint will not stick to the plastic and it will flake and peel away causing unsightly bubbles, flakes and scratches on the surface of the panels.
Once the surface is prepped, painting can begin. Use a paint that is designed for use with plastic. There are several forms of acrylic primers designed for use with plastic. You can also use an epoxy primer. Make sure the solution is water-based rather than oil-based. The paint can be applied with a roller or brush. A roller should only be used with flat panels and a brush should be used with panels that have ridges or grooves. Allow the primer to dry for 24 hours. Follow the primer application with an acrylic paint designed for use with plastic. Generally, this kind of paint will have ingredients that make it more flexible. Plastic paint comes in container or spray form. Either kind is equally effective at sticking to the paint. If the paint bubbles up, remove the paint and mix in some paint thinner with the primer; 5 to 10 percent thinner to 90 to 95 percent primer is a good ratio.

How to Design a Travel Mug

Travel mug is  designed with sealed lid that keeps liquid contained but available for sipping while traveling. Numerous websites and businesses offer the capability of personalizing travel mugs for promotional or personal gifts. Customers have a myriad of choices when it comes to mug style, but placement of the artwork falls into a specific area and size. For best results, follow the printer's suggestions and guidelines when designing the perfect travel mug.
1.Choose a printer that offers travel mugs as a printing option for gift items.
2.Choose a style of travel mug offered by the printer. Request a sample mug to work with---the printer will probably charge for this sample, but it is worth the cost to make sure the artwork fits.
3.Request information on the size and type of artwork required by the printer for the style of vacuum bottle chosen. Inquire about the use of color in the artwork. Some companies will only print a single color, while others will offer a two-color imprint.
4.Design the artwork using the parameters given by the printer. Use logos, company names, titles of special events, personal symbols or original designs. Work in black and white for easy visual translation of the image.
5.Periodically print the design, cut it from the paper and attach it in the appropriate place on the travel mug to create a prototype. View the mug with the design from a short distance and by placing it where the user would typically put it down: his or her desk. Check for readability and impact. Make sure the travel mug design conveys the desired message.
6.Choose a final design, save the artwork in the file type required by the printer and send it to the printer.

How to Make a Vacuum Chamber Glass Bottle

A vacuum chamber can be made from practically any airtight container. The power of the vacuum bottle and the type of container you use will determine the amount of pressure of the vacuum. A powerful vacuum could cause the container to implode or collapse if the container is not sturdy enough. But the amount of vacuum created by a small pump for a science project is different than the amount of vacuum needed for professional applications. One way you can check to see if your vacuum is working is to put a partially inflated balloon in the chamber and see if it expands.
1.Cut a small piece of tubing about 4 inches long. Place one end of the plastic tubing through the hole in the center of the rubber stopper. Feed the tube until it starts to emerge through the small end of the stopper. If your stopper does not have a hole in the center use a corkscrew or small drill to make one.
2.Connect the tubing from the top of the stopper to one end of the shut-off valve. Make sure the seal is tight. Cut another length of tubing, approximately 12 inches. Connect one end of the tubing to the other end of the shut-off valve. Connect the other end of the tubing to the vacuum pump. Place the stopper tightly in the top of the bottle.
3.Open the shut-off valve. Use the pump to remove air from the chamber. When you have removed as much air as you want, turn the shut-off valve into the closed position. You can them remove the tubing connecting the stainless steel bottle. Your vacuum chamber is now ready.
